This Wednesday, Stan Sakai, one of the greatest visual storytellers of all time and creator of Usagi Yojimbo (perhaps my favorite comic) dropped by the store. I guess he was in town visiting Peter Laird, one of the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was extremely nice, and was quite gracious when I indulged in a bit of gushing. He then asked if I'd like a sketch. I gave him the backing board and sharpie that he asked for, and he did a quick Usagi sketch, and then asked me if I'd like it for me, or for the store. That was a hard question, and I think it shows the depth of my commitment to the enterprise that I said 'the store.' So, Modern Myths now has a Stan Sakai original of its very own. Lefty seemed quite pleased to see it, too. Yay!!
