There are a few blogs that I read, not because they are a good source of news commentary or debate, but just because I am interested in the life of whoever is writing said blog. There are a few which overlap, as well, but I'd say that there are four such online diaries that I check out every day. All of them are livejournals. None of them are on my friends list. They are:

[livejournal.com profile] ginmar, a woman who recently returned from serving in the army in Iraq, and who is an eloquent and loquacious feminist. Many of her posts, especially of late, are political rants and not so personal, but she is a compelling read and an interesting person.

[livejournal.com profile] thebestjess, a college student in Austin, TX about whom I posted a year or two ago. I came across her journal more or less at random, the day after her best friend and lover had died in a car crash. She doesn't post as much as she used to do, but I remain struck by the honesty and intelligence of her writing.

[livejournal.com profile] nepenthe01, the only person on my list whom I have actually met, is a computer programmer out in the Boston area. She is (or was) friends with [livejournal.com profile] filthyassistant and [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat, and she alternates thoughtful posts on new urbanism and music with stuff about her wedding plans, trips to far away lands, and really good photographs.

[livejournal.com profile] rollick, a reviewer and editor for the Onion AV Club [http://www.theonionavclub.com ] posts fascinating outtakes from interviews with people like Dave Sim, Dave Eggers, John Landis, and many others. She also talks about family trips, gaming with her friends, and the simple joys of life with her boyfriend.
(Omnia, you might really like this LJ. From a recent post, describing a busy morning's activities: "As I finished the second [story], I had this thought to the effect of "I've discovered a new thing! If you look at a bunch of words arranged in the right order, little pictures form in your head, and the pictures tell a story! Neat!"

There are other things that I check out from time to time, particularly Mark Evanier's blog, http://www.newsfromme.com . (ME is a co-creator with Sergio Aragones of Groo the Wanderer, a writer for all sorts of TV and movie projects, a long-time comics fan and critic, and, from what I can tell, one of the nicest people on this earth. I hope to meet him before I die.)

So, that's my list. I really like all these people, even the ones I don't actually know, and I hope that they don't find my covert interest creepy, or mind my talking about them here. I'm really curious to know what journals you, oh reader, read in a similar fashion. They may be on your watch list, but maybe not. Who are they? Why do you like them?

For extra points, post your reply in your own journal (and link to mine if you wish), and we can start our very own LJ meme! Go on, do it! Be trend setter, like the cool kids in their Adidas sweat suits!
