Update, pt. 1

grinninfooleThese are some of the important things going in my life of late (good and bad):
Weekend of April 5-7, went to New Jersey for the JerseyDevilcon, an SF/Fantasy shindig. Part of the point was to celebrate my turning 10 (32) on Sunday. With me on the trip were Shadow, Pixi, Filthyassistant and Sydneycat. I drove us all in my minivan, and the drive took about 4 hours. We packed along various groceries in two coolers so that we wouldn't have to buy food at the hotel or local restaurants. (The hotel was Sheraton in Edison, NJ, and while they were courteous and efficient, it is primarily a business hotel in an industrial park, and the food prices were outrageous.)
Guest of honor was Terry Pratchett, who was very funny and congenial. SC gave me a copy of the Last Hero while we waited in an autograph line, which he then signed to me. Yay!
Other highlights included watching interesting historical fiction Anime (Samurai X) with Shadow, getting trim put on my cloak by Deena Flockhart, getting an adorable stuffed snow leopard from FA, and the following exchange while trying on SC's new black shift for the Black-Tie, Lingerie, Toga formal dance (hey, it's lingerie)--
Shadow: It makes you look slightly pregnant.
Me: That's because I'm slightly fat, you asshole!
Also met and flirted with several cute women. Also more than once wished Sabbath had come to the con, too.
