Aug. 9th, 2003 12:46 pmI am wearing a back brace for the first time ever. Apparently, the sore back I got from helping a friend move last Monday was more than just a sore muscle or two--I seem to have irritated one of my lower spinal discs. It's not really painful, and it's not severe, but I still am wearing a brace. I have an appointment to meet with M's chiropractor on Monday evening to discuss how to prevent this from happening again. I would like this to be a unique event in my life, and not the beginning of a chronic problem. Especially since I need to lift heavy boxes while working at the store. I don't want to give up on that job.
Right now, I'm leaving for Boston to visit M's mom in the hospital. She seems to be getting better. We'll be staying with my folks over night, and I'll finally give Mom the new Harry Potter for her birthday (a month late...)
Otherwise, I'm not doing enough reading for school, or any writing. My relationship with M is going well (we went to my 2nd cousin's wedding on 8/1, and we started talking about what we'd like to do for ours, which was nice. I definitely want a big wild-rumpus style party. M seems to like the idea of period-theme-costume stuff. I think we can compromise), which is a good thing. One good bit of school work done, though, was watching From Earth to the Moon, the Tom Hanks produced 12 hour TV series from 1998. Larry, my advisor, told me to watch it for my comps, and then read the book. So, we watched it together. It was a lot of fun. The series is really excellent television, and I strongly recommend it to anyone, especially someone interested in the space program. I mean, it was good enough to be required for my comps in twentieth century American science, so that must count for something.
I'd also like to tip the hat to Sydneycat. It was really nice spending some time the other day. We must do it again, soon.
