Now we are six (times seven)

My birthday was last weekend. For the day itself, I played Magic and D&D at Modern Myths most of the day. The day after, I threw a party, which (because of illnesses and Easter) didn't pull as many as I expected, but Grounded came over and chatted for a couple of hours, and millari and trovia joined us, and we had good conversation, so I think that plan worked pretty well. (Other friends did come and visit, too. :) M has been really happy to have T visiting, and I have pleased to be included in their fun a few times. (Including watching the last of DS9--oh, what a great show, and a great ending, and a stark contrast to the end of BSG.) It's interesting to see them together, because M really is moving on with her life, and while that does lead moments of boundary weirdness and redefinition, it's also neat to see this familiar but new person emerge.
I'm enjoying work at the store, and I think I'm still handling the challenge of self-policing adequately. We're stepping up the social media output, with lots of FB posts (and, I presume, tweets*) and a new podcast about 'nerd culture' which is actually pretty good. I have to write another short piece for my new column Games In Earnest. I have no idea what to say. It's taken me a lot of effort and dillydallying just to do this post.
In other news, I came home to a big hole in the side of my house on Thursday. It turns out that a tractor-trailer blew out a tire that afternoon, and it smashed into the wall of my entry way. The damage isn't critical, but it must be repaired and will cost more than I wish to spend. I hope insurance will cover it all.
*= While I was typing this, I said 'oh, what the hell', and set up a twitter account. Sigh.
