An appeal to the audience.
May. 19th, 2002 11:14 pmIn the comment section of my journal (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=grinninfoole&itemid=4426) I have been conducting a conversation with an interesting woman in Texas who goes by the handle Chinachewy. Recently, when I told her that even my friends seemed to think that I'm weird, she asked me why, and I was st uck for an answer: "People call me 'weird' because...uh, well, I'm not sure. I think it's because I'm somewhat oblivious to social conventions. I'd have to ask my friends for a better answer. "
Well, that's what I'm doing here, and I ask not just for Chewy's benefit, but for my own. Why is it, exactly, that I am weird? I tell you, as Marty Feldman is my witness, that I really don't get it.

Date: 2002-05-20 05:38 am (UTC)I suspect that other people might think of you as strange or weird for the same reasons that they think Shadow, or Bonnie, or Stacey or I am wierd. Which is that we like things outside of the norm. Whether that is a different style of music, a way of dressing, finding amusement and fun in things that "normal" people would disdain and put down...
well you get the drift right?
Anyway, I could hazard a guess or two, but for me it would be the pot calling the kettle black I think.
Perhaps it is the fact that you like learning and education, that you are intelligent and well spoken. Perhaps it is the haphazard way you dress at times, though I kinda like the sweaters and chino style pants on you. You would look funny in all black.
Maybe it is the fact that you are a gamer or that you like comic books. Maybe it is none of those things.
All I know, is I respect you, I enjoy your company, and I love you dear friend.
or... maybe its that you seem to perfer the company of freaks like me?
