So, in a little less than month, [personal profile] millari and I will be getting married here in our new house.  Despite my best efforts to keep things low-key and low-maintenance, it's turning into a lot of work.  In part, this is because I want things a certain way (I'm surprised at how fussy I'm being about my ring, for instance.)   Even keeping it simple, though, we need to get tables, chairs, and flatware for the reception. I want to send out invitation/reminder things.  We need to clear some space in our back yard, so we have room for the wedding there (and maybe the reception, if weather permits.)  There are also lots of small things to plan:  like, what to do on the Saturday night before our wedding.  M wants to have folks in the house with us, cooking food to get ready.  (Sort of a bonding experience, and much cooler than a bridal shower, she thinks (and I agree).)  But, not everyone will want to do that, so perhaps I should arrange a dinner?  (And what food do we want at our wedding, because I want nothing but food so tasty that each dish would make you cry.  Oh, and I want there to be plenty of options for folks who don't do meat, or dairy.  How to arrange all that?)

Also, I need to go out and find a tux, but I know very little about it, so Friday through Sunday I shall be focusing on this, and on getting M a dress.

In the meantime, we have sort of stalled out on setting up our house.  We still haven't put the old futon out of the porch, even though the space is cleared--we need to stain it, first.  And, I need to take apart my old platform bed, since it's not right for the guest room/study, but we have to buy the new futon to put in its place.

Sigh.  It's tough to handle a lot of interlocking tasks like this with ADD, because its easy to get paralyzed by a sense of not knowing where to start and not accomplishing anything, which makes necessary tasks into distractions from other necessary tasks, and results in nothing getting done.

Several friends have offered to help, but I'm not sure what help I need, so I don't know what to tell them.  I guess I need someone to help me get organized.  perhaps I should say, someone to help us get organized.

I'd be happy to help with picking M's dress. I'd volunteer for the organization part, but I can barely keep myself organized much less anyone else! ;)

Anyway, do call us if there's anything I or Lija can do.

Hope some of this helps. If I was closer I'd try to help more.

Shadow and I catered through the local deli, didn't bother with florists. Hand wrote the invites, Rented tables and chairs from a place we found in the yellow pages... I did most of the work through phone and in the space of a month. It can be done.
