Millari and I have just come home from a lovely dinner with our friend G and his family (wife H was counselling M on the finer points of MA divorce law, which was really nice of her, especially since she took it upon herself to offer.) Anyway, we smelled a weird smoky smell, and I poked around and figured that it appeared to be coming from the office next door. So M called the fire department. They came quickly and, apparently not liking the smell either, proceeded to rip the door down and they are, as I type, scouring the office looking for the source of the smell. So far, they haven't found it, which seems to have them worried. I hope it doesn't turn out to be nothing, or I shall feel quite the fool.

UPDATE: Well, the NFD has unplugged a computer monitor that seems to have been the source of the offending odor. Other than that, we'll see.`

I do love the bomb. I just stop grinning when I am actually on fire. Smouldering, no problem. Flames, it becomes more of a grimace than a grin. Just a little line that I draw.

No, you see, the grin is actually a sophisticated latex applique. It stays on (and I keep grinnin)so long as the ambient air temperature stays below about 230 degrees C. After that it melts. Of course, at that point, I have also most likely caught fire, since that's about the flashpoint of wood and plant fiber.

You don't think I'm actually SMILING like this, do you?
