Yesterday, I was in my chiropractor's office, and the receptionist asked me why I had written Doom! as my name on a form. It's because I hate doing what I'm told, but I started telling her about how I got the Doom nickname, and how it all traced back to this post: http://www.livejournal.com/users/grinninfoole/22011.html in my LJ. At which point she interjected, "that was you?" This made me really happy. Total strangers read and remember my LJ.

Anyway, now that I know I have this power to attract an audience, I must use it responsibly. Look at this trailer for Errol Morris's new film, Fog of War: http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony/thefogofwar.html
Now, keep an eye out and go see the film when you can. I shall, and I expect to thoroughly enjoy it.

That is all. You may move on to other journals now.

No, really, it's OK.

Go on.

I said go, and I mean it.

Piss off, the lot of you!

STOP STARING AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARGH!! My father and I saw The Thin Red Line. It was truly awful. It couldn't decide if it wanted to be existential and art-house or a big-budget war movie. And I'm still wondering to this day if John Cusack's character makes it home alive or not. This one seems interesting and at least it's clear it's an art-house film. But sheesh! TTRL was terrible! Both my dad and I hated it! (For opposite reasons but still.)

Errol Morris didn't make Thin Red Line, he made Thin Blue Line, a documentary about cops, DAs and judges in Texas wittingly imprisoning an innocent man on death row. I try not to succumb to stereotypes, but man, what is it about Texas? Anyway, it's a very good film, and did help free the guy.
