Today I am now actually 33. Yesterday, however, I had what might have been my best birthday party yet. A lot of friends turned out (and more called and/or sent their regrets) and made me feel special. Yay! A big LJ thanks goes out to:
some folks not on LJ to my knowledge--
B and E, the Destroyer and his gracious friend S. (The Destroyer gave me a hug as he left. This made me extra happy.)
Dede, for my own personal death by chocolate. I shall toss the cake plate into the air; bury me where it lands. :)
Hamlet, for a lovely email. Sorry for the short notice.
JCE called and we chatted for half an hour (and no one else complained! thank you, guys :) and it was great, as always. He's the fellow I called just as his wife went into labor. They have a fabulous little girl named Nora Rose.
jazzytwang, who is so cool, he mailed me a card. And was a fount of great stories, as usual.
leftahead, who continues to grow in my estimation and who took me guy-shopping before the party. A fun new experience.
_solstyce_, for calling to give her regards, despite being swamped with Chinese, and for agreeing to be my study buddy today. Thank god!
wolfy, for bowing out graciously earlier in the afternoon. I hope things look up soon.
filthyassistant for making rum balls (without rum!) and for just generally being my dear friend.
sydneycat for her zen ability to find new copies books that I lost fifteen years ago (in five minutes!) and for Klatchian delight!
and, of course
millari for organizing and hosting the party, baking a great cake, making a lovely dinner, and for being wonderful. Yay!
(and, since it's LJ, to end on a pissy note, I typed out most of this entry, made a typo, hit CTRL-Z to undo (as I would on a Mac) and wound up losing half the post, because it wouldn't redo the undo. Must remember: windows machines suck. :)
