Next week, the Team will be going away for a few days to Vancouver.  Why?  1) Millari went there for a day while touring with King Radio, and loved it.  2) They film Battlestar Galactica there.  M has decided to seize the moment and go while the second statement is still true (only another few months.)  So, more or less at the last minute, we're taking some vacation time, booking flights etc, and going.  I would never do this on my own, first because all I know about Vancouver is that the Canucks had the lamest 80s jerseys ever, second because we don't know anybody out there and we're basically going to just gawk, and hope to stumble onto coolness, and third, it's 3000 miles (5000 km) away.  But that doesn't stop my Strider.  Instead, she finds people via the internet who are willing to meet up and show us a good time, and even welcome us to their Halloween party, purely because she asked.   And, because we're going to spend a day in Seattle with her old pal Badass, we're apparently going to meet someone else M has met via the net.  I don't know  much of anything about her (other than which pronoun to use) in part because I have been, heretofore, only mildly curious.  (Her fan-fictional interest doesn't light my fire.)  Also, however, she's VERY SECRETIVE.  As in, won't reveal her name, or personal details, or whatever.  She fears discovery of some sort, and has told M that, apparently, whatever we think is her story, we're wrong.  Which, of course, has my imagination in overdrive, and probably setting me up for a disappointingly mundane reality.  So far, I've got some or all of the following: conjoined twin; four or seven feet tall and/or 600 pounds; transsexual; illegal immigrant/political refugee/witness protection program; cloistered nun; secretly Tricia Helfer.  And I suppose less neutral/amusingly exotic options like incest survivor or burn victim.  It's actually making me nervous that I'll make this poor person, who really only wants to meet my wife, feel freakish or terrible when I meet them through some horrible gaffe I might not even notice.  (I have ADD; it's happened before.  A lot.)  Happily, we'll get to visit for a bit in NYC with M's last internet find [profile] _usakeh_!  That turned out well, though I suppose that now she's got her meds working, she'll discover she doesn't actually like me.

Oh, and a big thanks to Team Amoeba for cat care while we're away.

Anyway, as I type this, the store has been hosting a 24 Hour Comic challenge for about 3 hours.  I'll be in to cover this evening, and then working as normal tomorrow.

Coming up on Friday, November 3, it's World Wide D&D Day.  I had fun last year and I look forward to running a session in the evening--though if there's coverage I might skip it so my mom can come visit.
