On a sadder note, I'm really sorry about your dad. He seems to be declining really fast. No wonder your mom is heartbroken. I'm sure it doesn't help that your dad has been extremely difficult to live with for the last several years, and she must feel a certain amount of guilt at her relief of not having that burden anymore on a daily basis. But you've been doing a good job of calling her and checking up on her, and that's about all you can do, besides what you are already doing to help the family deal with this knotty and emotional problem.
