My brother has been admitted to the hospital to prepare him for surgery and cancer treatment. They just put a tube down his nose, so they can provide nutrition. It was clearly agonizing and provoked a paroxysm of vomiting. I had to leave the room, because it upset me so.  Even down the hallway, in the lounge with the door closed, I could still hear it.  It went on for quite a while.

We have apparently done this many times to prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. So, we absolutely do torture people.

Actually, it was to pump out the contents of my stomach. The nutrition will come later through the pic line and the bypass operation. Thank you for staying brother!

Ooof. I am now glad I was still under when they put my nose tube in. Getting it pulled out was terrible enough.

This was hard to read; I can't imagine how hard it was to witness, never mind experience directly. I'm sorry for both of you having to go through that, but I'm glad it at least is helping, and I'm glad to hear that Dave's surgery went well. Last time I talked to him, it was uncomfortable for him to talk. Is he up to receiving phone calls at the hospital yet?
