California musing
I'm visiting with Usakeh right now, part of an extended jaunt that will soon take me to Hawaii to spend Thanksgiving with my uncle and other relatives there. The weather as I left was unseasonably sultry, thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Nicole coming up the coast. It's apparently snowing there now.
The flights themselves were fine. I watched out Confess, Fletch (which was fine) and Encanto (which was a delightful Pixar cartoon), and checked out Aquaman, which looks tedious, and The Green Knight with Dev Patel, which looks interestingly surreal and symbolic.
Since my last post, I have sold the family house in Andover, our home for 37 years. Of course, there's no "our" anymore, which is why I passed it on. According to the inflation calculator site, even adjusting for inflation, I still made $200,000 in today's money over what mom and dad paid back then.
I started renting an office down in Holyoke to try and have a place to go outside the house, to have a space to work on projects to live the life I want to live. It's absurdly privileged, but I hope it will help me do more with my time than just surf the net all day.
